Have you seen the movie poster for Kite Runner? Well I saw a dude at Castle Park flying the most complicated and deluxe kite I have ever seen. This kite was so powerful it almost lifted him of the ground. So I knew this would be a perfect moment to create a similar shot to the movie poster.
The original Movie Poster
Anyways.... Here is how I took the shots. I first put my camera on shutter priority @ 1/200 and then metered my camera for the bright blue sky. It gave me an aperture around f11.0 (I think). Because the sky is much brighter then the ground, any object in front of me would be under exposed. To correct for under exposure, I attached my speedlite. I then adjusted my speedlite to properly expose object with in 6 feet of me. As you can see by the pictures both the sky and the guys' arm are in good exposure levels.
