Home Renovation

I have been extra excited about flash photography recently since I saw that the company Pocket Wizard created a TTL version of Pocket Wizard that would work with my Canon speedlite. So this whole week I have been trying to find excuses to shoot with a flash so that I might justify purchasing the pocket wizard.

These pictures are of my friend Johnny, he is in the Home Renovation business. About a week ago I asked Johnny to come over and fix my fence and drink some beers. However instead of helping I started to go trigger happy and started to take pictures.

This first picture was taken at f11, 1/250sec, ISO 100. What I did first was set my exposure 1 stop down for the blue sky. Because the sky was much brighter then the area Johnny was working in, I needed to use my strobes to fill-in the light artificially. I used two strobes connected wirelessly. I placed one about 6 feet up on johnny's 10 o'clock and placed the other strobe on the ground at Johnny's 2 o'clock. I dont think the bottom strobe helped at all. The top strob was set to half power.

This second shot was with natural lighting with my camera at Aperture priority -0.7ev, f2.8, 1/3200, ISO 100. I find whenever the sky is really nice blue it is best to under expose the image or the blue will get washed out and look white.
