So gambling in Korea is illegal if you are Korean but not if you are a foreigner. So I took my passport one night and decided to go gambling. So I got my passport and decided to check out a Casino. I started to walk in the front and was immediately stopped by security guards. I guess they could tell I was Korean (I do have very Korean features) and they were very abrasive with me until I showed my Canadian passport. Their attitudes all of a sudden changed and they bowed and escorted me into the Casino. When I walked in I was surprised to see so many Japanese people gambling. Apparently it is illegal to gamble in Japan as well, so Japanese business men fly to Korea like most people in North America fly to Vegas.
So I have never been to Vegas but from what I hear to get free drinks and food you have to be playing at a high limit table and if you play at the lower limit tables the servers are few and far between. So when I first sat down at the roulette table I was waiting for a server to come along but none came for a while. Until someone at the table just yelled something in Japanese and about 1 minute later a drink showed up in front of him. So I decided to do the same, in my most western voice I yelled to the pit boss, "Give me a beer". The pit boss nodded, then punched a couple things in a computer and about 30 seconds later a beer showed up in front of me. For all of you reading this, you have to realize the gravity of what just occurred, I basically snapped my fingers and free booze magically appeared in front of me. If you saw my face at that moment you would have seen a single tear falling from my eye. It was the most beautiful moment I have experienced! I then saw someone else yell something and then a hot plate of marinated beef (Gal Bee) landed in front of him. I was in so much shock I fainted. J/k
For all of you that know me, I love to drink Vodka Water, but for some reason the servers could net get their head wrapped around the notion to mix vodka with water. It was causing so much confusion that at one point I just started to order, 1 shot of vodka, 1 empty cup filled with ice and a bottle of water. (Which I would mix myself)
Lastly, I love how Korean government works, it wants to protect its own citizen against the evils of gambling, but if you're Japanese or a foreigner they are glad to take your money.
